CBCT viewer for iPad — chairside, in Safari

Show a CBCT to the patient in the chair without walking them to the workstation. Pinch to zoom, rotate the 3D model, highlight the nerve — all on iPad, all in Safari.

Why iPad is the best device for patient consults

  • Touch-first UI with pinch-zoom and rotate that feels natural in the chair.
  • Works in Safari on any iPad from 2018 onwards (A10 Fusion and later).
  • No App Store download, no Apple ID dance — just open the link.
  • Ideal for walking the patient through findings at the chair or during consultation.
  • Full 3D rendering via WebGL, not a flat screenshot.
  • Same account as your desktop — scan opens with the same annotations.

Why chairside consults win

Treatment acceptance goes up when the patient sees their own scan and understands what is happening. Walking to the workstation breaks the flow. An iPad at the chair, showing the same CBCT the clinician just reviewed, keeps the conversation going.

Case presentation on a dental-specific iPad app is an option, but requires a dedicated app install for each case or each clinic. CBCTHub works with any CBCT from any brand through a link.

Performance on iPad

iPads from 2018 onward (A10 Fusion, M1, M2 models) run the full 3D viewer smoothly. Modern iPad Pros with M-series chips are faster than many clinic PCs for volumetric rendering.

The viewer uses WebAssembly and WebGL. There is no native app in the way, so updates happen when we ship them — no waiting for App Store review cycles.

FAQ

Do I need to install an app?

No. The viewer runs in Safari. Optional: add it to your Home Screen as a PWA for a native-feeling launcher.

Does it work on older iPads?

iPads with A10 Fusion or later (2018+) work well. Older iPads may struggle with large 3D volumes.

Can the patient look at their own scan on their iPhone?

Yes. The share link opens on any iOS or Android device with a modern browser.
