Works with every Planmeca 3D scanner

  • Reads Romexis DICOM exports from ProMax 3D, ProMax 3D Classic, ProMax 3D Mid, ProMax 3D Max and Viso G5/G7.
  • Handles Planmeca's split-series output (multiple folders per study).
  • Panoramic curve generation, oblique slices and 3D render — the tools Romexis has, in the browser.
  • Shareable link the referring dentist opens on a Mac or iPad.
  • Local WebAssembly processing. Free plan doesn't upload pixel data.
  • No Romexis subscription required to view.

Exporting from Romexis

In Planmeca Romexis, select the 3D study and choose Export → DICOM. Pick the option "Export as DICOMDIR" or "Export folder". Romexis creates a folder that typically contains a DICOMDIR file and an IMAGES subfolder with numbered .dcm slices.

Zip the whole folder and upload. CBCTHub reads DICOMDIR and also falls back to parsing loose slices if DICOMDIR is missing.

Romexis Viewer vs CBCTHub for distribution

Romexis Viewer is free but Windows-only and has to be installed on every referring dentist's machine. Sending it by email hits attachment limits. Burning it to CD is a 2010 workflow.

CBCTHub skips all that. The dentist clicks a link, the exam opens, they read it, measure, screenshot and sign off. Zero install on the receiving side.

FAQ

Does it read Romexis 6.x exports?

Yes, and also older Romexis 4.x exports.

What about Planmeca's "Viewer Package" ZIP?

Upload the ZIP directly. The bundled viewer is ignored and only the DICOM folder is parsed.

Can I open Planmeca STL exports too?

Not in the CBCT viewer yet — only the DICOM volume. STL/PLY support is planned.
